Tuxedo Royale

Inspired by the frilly tuxedo shirts of the 1970's, I just finished this dummy cake for a class in February 2011. To take it up a notch and take it from 70's swing to modern elegance, I kept to a black and white colour theme.

However, what I think brings this design to life, is the use of black rainbow dust. It brings a little bling, bling and gives it an extra summin', summin'.

Inspired by fashion, it really goes to show you that inspiration can come from anything and anywhere. The start point for this design was a black blouse in my closet with frilly ruffles on the front, which sprung board the idea to the frilly tuxedo shirts of the 1970's. The frilly shirt is back people!

Supplies and tools I used:

  • 20g floral wire
  • FMM, 65mm
  • floral tape
  • Jet Black Rainbow Dust
  • White and black fondant
  • PME Pearl lustre spray
  • 6" round dummy
  • 8" cake drum board

    3. I think the black rainbow dust is what really gives that elegant factor.
