Pretty Pink Peonies

I've always been a big fan of peonies. Not only do they have the pretty factor, but they have a sense of elegance about them, which is probrably why a lot of brides choose them for their bouquets - my sister-in-law was no exception.

Having some rare free time on my hands, I decided to create some different peonies out of gumpaste to add to my portfolio collection. The Garden Peony, at the top left corner, is my favourite thus far. The Peony Rose petal dust, just adds that touch of brightness that is so readily seen in peonies.

For the closed peony, which is the lighter pink peony on the right, I used the Soft Pink gel paste colour from Americolour, and Baby Pink and Impatient Pink petal dusts from Crystal Colours.

And last but not least, the hot pink open peony, pictured on the left. I used the same Peony Rose petal dust, as with the Garden Peony. However, to colour the gumpaste, I used Soft Pink and Electric Pink soft gel paste from Americolour.

Pretty pink peonies...I love it!

  4. How beautiful! I am a gardener and grew peonies a few years back, and they are still among my favorites! I recently started to learn making gumpaste peonies. Would you share which cutters you used? Thank you!

    1. Thanks Annapet! For the top flower, I used a garden peony cutter. For the last two flowers, I used the peony cutters from Sunflower Sugar Art.
