2011 Canada's Baking & Sweets Show

Recently, Redpath sugar hosted the first annual Canada's Baking and Sweets Show. The first consumer show of its kind to invite the public into the world of sugar. How fabulous! Vendors ranged from retailers like, Golda's Kitchen to confectionary arts school like the Bonnie Gordon College of Confectionary Arts, as well as featuring cake retailers like Icing Inspirations and Sugar Buds.

Lots to see and LOTS to eat. Demos and baking competitions were in full force, with a special appearance from Buddy, the Cake Boss himself. The show also hosted a cake competition, which I submitted an entry in the Wedding Cake Category.

I didn't get to make it down to the show until almost the very end. However, because of some fabulous cake friends, my curiousity as to who won the wedding cake cagetory did not have wait till I got there. After a few Facebook messages back and forth, and a wall post on Saturday, I found out that I won! I won 1st place in the Wedding Cake Category!

Inspired by the beauty and simplicty of the cherry blossom flower, I had a great time creating this wedding cake. Simple in design, yet a visual stand out do to the three colours of red, white and black that were soley used.
